About the Band

Wisconsin Grit

Firewater Gospel Choir (FWGC) is a high-energy roots band from the Minnesota and Wisconsin river valley blending rock, country, gospel, and Americana into a sound that feels part revival meeting, part barroom throwdown. Known for powerful vocals, gritty musicianship, and marathon live shows, the band brings audiences together with music that invites singing, dancing, and raising a glass.

Fronting the group is Josh “The Franchise” Lassi, singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist whose songs form the backbone of the band’s sound. Alongside him is Zeb “The Money” Sears, bringing soulful vocals and both acoustic and electric guitar work that drives the band’s dynamic live energy.

Holding down the rhythm section is Rick “The Dirt” Smith on bass, laying the deep grooves that keep crowds moving all night long. Brando “The Legend” Clark adds the pulse and punch behind the kit, anchoring the band’s explosive live performances.

Adding roots flavor and grit to the mix is Chris “The Meat” Snyder, weaving banjo and harmonica into the band’s sound to give Firewater Gospel Choir its unmistakable Americana edge. Rounding out the lineup is Nate Bruce on keys, whose piano and organ textures bring warmth, soul, and a touch of gospel to the band’s arrangements.

Behind the scenes helping bring the whole spectacle to life is TJ “The Light,” the band’s manager and production coordinator. From dialing in the stage atmosphere to orchestrating the lights that transform every show into a full-blown experience, TJ helps ensure that Firewater Gospel Choir doesn’t just sound powerful—it looks the part too.

Despite the name, Firewater Gospel Choir is rarely found in church pews. Instead, they’ve built a reputation across the Upper Midwest playing breweries, fairs, festivals, and dance halls where audiences are ready to sing loud and dance hard.

The band has released an EP and several singles across major streaming platforms, with fan favorites including “Son,” “Misery,” “I Saw You,” and “Lights of Town,” as well as recent releases “Promises Made” and “Thank You Faribault.” Their shows often stretch into four-hour celebrations of music, community, and good times.

Whether performing original songs or breathing new life into traditional spirituals like “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel,” Firewater Gospel Choir delivers a sound that feels timeless, rowdy, and deeply rooted in American music.
