Bio

Messenger Mike Kimmel has been playing music professionally for over twenty five years. Growing up in, and around the Minneapolis, MN. area, Mike was influenced by a host of musicians and musical styles, but found that he loved the blues, and has been known for being primarily a blues singer and guitarist since 1990. Having traveled and lived in many different areas in the U.S. has given Messenger Mike Kimmel a unique sound and take on the music he plays.

Being a blues fan and student, Mike has spent considerable time staying, living and playing around the Mississippi delta especially Clarksdale, and it's surrounding towns with some blues heavy weights such as David "Honeyboy" Edwards, T- Model Ford, " the Oil man" Big Jack Johnson, and others. Mike has also has played and recorded with James Samuel " Cornbread" Harris, Katy Thomasberg, and many other people. The Bourbones was one band created by Messenger Mike, and was a touring blues band for six years, having played on several blues festival stages, and many clubs in the U.S., as well as return performers at the juke joint festival in Clarksdale, MS. and the center for Southern folklore in Memphis, TN. four years in a row. 

Now living in Stillwater, MN. with his wife Leah, Messenger Mike can be seen playing around Minnesota, the Midwest, and across the United States as a sideman, for Christopher Snyder, Grant Walker, Melody Guy, and other musicians, or fronting his own blues band called Two Dollar Tight. Mike is currently writing and working on his fourth album.
